A long-running Funchal adventure operator whose canyoning starts at nine and whose other harness activities start at seven - the lowest published ages on the island.
The real gate is not the birthday but the harness: 125 cm and 25 kg minimum, 115 kg maximum, on every activity. A small nine-year-old will not fit one. Alongside canyoning they run rock climbing, levada walks, jeep safaris and boat trips, which makes them a single booking for a family whose children are years apart. Nothing on the site is priced, so every quote is bespoke and comparing means writing an email.
Worth knowing: Measure and weigh the child before you write. 125 cm and 25 kg decides it, and being turned back at the top of a canyon wastes the whole morning.
