A Caniço-based multi-activity outfit whose one gentle option for families is the flat Levada da Serra bike circuit, about 18-20 km with almost no climbing.

The Levada da Serra do Faial makes a nearly level track above Funchal, traffic-free, and the family bike ride on Madeira is essentially this one route: about two and a half hours, low difficulty, e-bikes for a supplement. Everything else the company sells - shuttled downhill trails, canyoning - is for teenagers and adults. No operator on the island publishes a numeric minimum age for the easy ride, and the working rule quoted across the island's bike operators is that the child must already ride unaided and be with an adult.

Worth knowing: Ask specifically for the Levada da Serra circuit and for the smallest frame they have. The standard fleet starts at adult sizes, and a child on an oversized bike will not enjoy eighteen kilometres.
