A ninety-minute to two-hour guided paddle out of Caniço de Baixo into the Garajau marine reserve, with snorkelling stops over the reef.
The combination is the point: a short flat-water paddle under the cliffs, then masks on over one of the best snorkelling grounds on the island, with parrotfish, trumpetfish and pufferfish. The operator grades it easy and says no kayaking experience is needed, but a child must be able to swim - and unlike the coasteering, this tour publishes no minimum age at all, so a child's place has to be agreed first. Guide, kayak, snorkel kit, insurance, photographs and lido entry are included, and there are changing rooms, toilets and a restaurant at the base.
Worth knowing: Lido entry comes with the tour, so the base doubles as the afternoon's swimming pool once the paddle is over.

Season
Monday to Saturday, closed Sunday. The operator runs it year round, calmest in summer and early autumn, with winter days going out when the sea allows.
