A family-run stable at Santo da Serra whose children's Pony Experience - grooming, then a short led ride - lasts about thirty minutes and costs 89 €.

These are the highest prices in the whole catalogue by a wide margin: 89 € for half an hour on a pony, 119 € for the 4 km Cedar's Trail, 159 € for the 6 km levada ride and 229 € for eleven kilometres through laurel forest. What you get for it is a stable that picks horses by temperament and guides whom reviewers name rather than describe, which is usually the good sign with a nervous child. It is also up at 1,000 metres, where a ride booked from sunny Funchal can be ridden in drizzle and cloud.
