The one municipal summer camp on Madeira that says in writing that non-residents can enrol - six to thirteens, weekdays 09:00 to 17:25, lunch and insurance included.

Every other council scheme on the island is silent on whether a visiting family may join; this one states that residents enrol first on their own earlier dates and that places for não residentes depend on what is left. It is run for the council by the Associação Desportiva Pontassolense and it is genuinely outdoor: beach days, canoeing, natural pools, football and handball, traditional games, plus painting, modelling, photography and theatre. The fee covers a daily lunch, an afternoon snack, a cap and T-shirt, transport for field trips and accident insurance.

Worth knowing: Watch the municipality's social media in late spring, because that is the only place the dates and the enrolment days are announced - turning up in July is too late. Enrolment is in person at the Loja do Munícipe, 08:30-16:00, and working parents are prioritised.
