Levada do Alecrim

OpenLast checked September 11, 2026

A levada route on the Rabaçal plateau ending at the Lagoa da Dona Beja, the pool that feeds the Risco waterfall. It is 3.5 km each way, seven kilometres there and back, and IFCN allows 2 h 30 at an easy grade. The altitude barely moves, between 1339 m and 1256 m, so the effort is in the distance rather than the climbing.

  • This route is walked to the end and back the same way, so the length and time above are for one direction.
  • The route reaches 1339 m. Cloud, wind and temperature at that height are often nothing like the coast.
