Depression Bruna brings persistent heavy rain and gusts of up to 130 km/h in the mountains. The Funchal port authority advises staying away from piers and beaches.

IPMA, the Portuguese weather service, raised its warnings for the Madeira archipelago from yellow to orange for rain and wind on Saturday 7 November. According to DN Madeira, the orange warnings cover the whole region, including Porto Santo, and the weather comes with the depression Bruna.

Rain or showers, at times heavy and persistent, are forecast from late morning, especially on the south side of Madeira and in the highlands. Thunderstorms are possible.

DN Madeira reports that the orange rain warning runs from 18:00 to 03:00 the next morning. The orange wind warning lasts until midnight. Yellow warnings for both apply from 12:00 to 18:00, with gusts of up to 90 km/h on the coasts and in Porto Santo and 110 km/h in the mountains.

Wind from the south or southwest of 20 to 30 km/h strengthens to as much as 50 km/h from mid-morning. Gusts can reach 100 km/h on the coasts, especially at the eastern and western ends of Madeira, and 130 km/h in the mountains late in the day. DN Madeira puts gusts in Porto Santo at up to 100 km/h and in Funchal at up to 65 km/h in the afternoon. JM Madeira reports that the orange warning stays in force until Sunday.

The Funchal port authority, the Capitania do Porto do Funchal, has issued a strong wind warning for the archipelago. It expects waves of 2 to 3 metres on the north coast and up to 2.5 metres on the south coast. It recommends reinforcing boat moorings and advises people to avoid walks by the sea, especially on piers, in harbours and on beaches.
