Funchal mobility conference set for tomorrow

Funchal City Council will hold the conference "O Futuro da Mobilidade Urbana no Funchal: Qual o Caminho a Seguir?" tomorrow at 09:00 in the Sala da Assembleia Municipal, as part of Mobility Week. Jorge Carvalho, the Funchal mayor, will open the session, and vice-mayor Carlos Rodrigues will close it at 12:30.
The conference will bring together specialists from MOBI.E, the Instituto da Mobilidade e dos Transportes (IMT) and Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa (TML). It will cover electric mobility, urban planning, the Trans-European Transport Network and the role of public transport in the city.
Organisers aim to discuss the challenges facing Funchal and options for mobility in the coming years. The discussion will include reducing emissions and congestion, improving accessibility, increasing public transport use and making better use of urban space.
At 09:30, SĂlvia Amaral of MOBI.E will present "O Futuro das Redes PĂşblicas de Carregamento". Carla Oliveira of the Instituto da Mobilidade e dos Transportes will present "NĂłs Urbanos da Rede Transeuropeia: Desafios para o Funchal!" at 10:00, followed at 11:00 by Carlos Carvalho, president of the board of Transportes Metropolitanos de Lisboa, with "O Transporte PĂşblico no Centro da Mobilidade."
A debate moderated by Cláudio Mantero of Horários do Funchal will begin at 11:45. The public will be invited to share views on mobility constraints in Funchal and ask specialists questions.
According to Funchal City Council, the conference is particularly relevant as the municipality prepares the development of the Plano de Mobilidade Urbana Sustentável do Funchal (PMUS).
