On May 9th, Madeira's Associação do Caminho Real commemorated Europe Day with an enriching cultural exchange program. The event, part of the ERASMUS+ initiative, took place along the historic Caminho Real 23, a scenic route that stretches from Fajã da Ovelha to Prazeres in the Calheta municipality.
The activity, known as 'HOME – Heritage & Outdoor Madeira Experience,' was organized in collaboration with Associação RAMIFICA. It brought together 21 participants, including 12 members of the Associação do Caminho Real da Madeira (ACRM), and students and trainers from Kerry College, Ireland.
The journey began at 9 AM from the Church of Fajã da Ovelha, a significant landmark in the region. Participants enjoyed a pedestrian tour that highlighted the cultural and natural heritage of Madeira, emphasizing the island's commitment to preserving its historical pathways.
Caminho Real 23 is one of Madeira's treasured trails, offering breathtaking views and a glimpse into the island's rich history. Events like this cultural exchange aim to enhance international collaboration and appreciation for Madeira's unique landscapes and heritage.
