Quinta Magnólia
Funchal

- Outdoors
- Ages 2-12
- Children free
- Just turn up
Thirty-five thousand square metres behind the hotel zone: old trees, open lawn, a playground, a café and the public tennis, squash and padel courts.
It trades Santa Catarina's polish for more room and less manicure, and the playground suits children from about two up. Older reviews call the park run-down and the toilets poor while newer ones describe a refurbished space, so expect it to be uneven rather than uniformly kept. Cobbled sections make pushing a buggy harder than at Santa Catarina.
Worth knowing: The published weekday hours are short - 10:00 to 12:30 and 13:30 to 17:00, so it shuts over lunch and closes at five. Nobody publishes weekend hours at all, so phone rather than assume either way.

Getting there
Prices and opening times change without notice, and on this island they change often. Everything here carries the date it was checked in our research notes; if a place has moved or closed, tell us and we will fix it.
