A small neighbourhood garden with a playground in the hotel belt west of the centre, and the one municipal garden that advertises shade.
At under five thousand square metres it is a half-hour rather than an afternoon, but it is walkable from the Estrada Monumental hotels where most visiting families are staying, and the paths are laid out to cross genuinely steep ground without steps. Shade is the reason to prefer it in July. Fencing, toilets and parking are not published for this or any other Funchal garden.
Worth knowing: It opens an hour later and shuts two hours earlier from November: 08:00 to 19:00 instead of 07:00 to 21:00.
