Two injured in Via Rápida crash near airport

Two people were injured in an accident on the Via Rápida in the airport area on the night of 12 October 2026.
AgoraMadeira reported that the crash happened beneath the airport runway and closed the Via Rápida. It involved a motorcycle and a car.
According to AgoraMadeira, the injured men were in their 30s. The motorcyclist suffered abrasions, while the other man, who was travelling in a vehicle, reported chest pain and left the car by his own means.
Both men were assisted by the Bombeiros Municipais de Machico and the Bombeiros Sapadores de Santa Cruz and were to be taken to hospital, AgoraMadeira said.
