Suspected Fire in Funchal
On March 14, 2026, the Funchal Fire Department was swiftly mobilized to respond to a suspected fire in an apartment located in Bairro do Hospital. Upon arrival, the firefighters discovered that the situation was caused by a forgotten pot left on the stove, which was quickly dealt with, preventing any serious damage.
Traffic Accidents Involving Motorcyclists
The same day, two separate traffic accidents involving motorcycles occurred. The first incident took place on Rua da Quinta do Leme, where a 36-year-old man was injured after his motorcycle was hit by a car. He suffered injuries to his ribs and leg and was transported to Hospital Dr. N茅lio Mendon莽a for treatment.
In another incident, a 43-year-old motorcyclist was injured on Estrada Santo Ant贸nio da Serra in Santa Cruz. He complained of pain in his legs and arms following a collision with a light vehicle and was also taken to the same hospital.
Public Disturbance in Funchal
In the early hours of March 14, a fight broke out on Rua da Carreira in the Funchal area. The altercation left three men injured. The victims, aged between 30 and 60, sustained various injuries, including a scalp wound and facial injuries. Police are investigating the incident.
Body Found in Public
Earlier in the year, on January 29, a man in his 40s was found dead near the Madeira Tecnop贸lo. Emergency services, including the EMIR and PSP, confirmed that the death was not due to sudden illness or criminal activity.
