Elderly Woman Survives Car Accident Unscathed
On the afternoon of August 25, 2026, emergency services, including EMIR and the Bombeiros Sapadores do Funchal, were called to the scene of a car accident on Caminho do Olival in São Roque. A 71-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle, which plunged into a stream several meters below. Remarkably, the woman emerged from the accident without any injuries, negating the need for hospital transport. The response involved 13 personnel and four vehicles.
Worker Injured in Crane Fall
Earlier the same day, a 56-year-old man sustained multiple injuries after falling approximately 10 meters from a crane in Santo da Serra, Santa Cruz. The incident occurred while he was engaged in tree-cutting activities. Despite being conscious, the worker required immediate medical attention and was transported to the hospital for further care.
Young Girl Falls from Wall, Escapes Serious Harm
On August 21, 2026, a 7-year-old girl fell from a three-meter wall in the gardens of Almirante Reis. Emergency responders, including EMIR and the Bombeiros Sapadores do Funchal, quickly arrived at the scene. The girl suffered minor injuries and was taken to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for treatment.
