Recent accidents in Madeira have raised concerns about road safety. A chain collision and a rollover incident resulted in multiple injuries, highlighting the need for caution among drivers.

Recent road incidents in Madeira have brought attention to the importance of road safety on the island. On March 9th, a chain collision involving three cars occurred in the Boa Nova area on the expressway heading from Caniço to Funchal. The accident took place around 7 PM and involved a woman in her 40s and a man in his 60s, both of whom sustained minor injuries and were taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.

Emergency services, including the Volunteer Firefighters of Madeira, responded quickly with two ambulances and a rescue vehicle, although the latter was not needed. This incident follows another road accident on March 7th, involving a rollover in the Pestana Júnior tunnel near Funchal. In this case, a 25-year-old man was initially trapped in his vehicle and suffered a cut to his arm, while a 39-year-old man experienced head pain. Both were attended to by emergency services and transported to the same hospital.

These incidents underscore the necessity for increased awareness and caution among drivers on Madeira's roads, especially on busy expressways and within tunnels. The local authorities urge drivers to adhere to speed limits and maintain safe distances between vehicles to prevent such accidents.

In addition to these road incidents, there was a serious workplace accident on February 3rd, where a worker in his 30s was struck by several cement bags, resulting in severe injuries. This incident occurred on Rua Vale da Ajuda in Funchal, further emphasizing the need for safety measures in both road and workplace environments.
