The Funchal contemporary art association was recognised during national World Architecture Day celebrations.

Associação Porta 33 received the Statute of Honorary Member of the Order of Architects at an investiture ceremony on 8 October 2026 at the Auditório Nuno Teotónio Pereira, at the Order of Architects' national headquarters in Lisbon. Architect Madalena Vidigal accepted the distinction on behalf of Cecília Vieira de Freitas, while Porta 33 was organising several events in Porto Santo, according to Diário de Notícias Madeira.

The Regional Board of Madeira granted the distinction in the context of national World Architecture Day celebrations. Diário de Notícias Madeira reported that the association was recognised for its cultural and historical-artistic orientation and its impact on the community.

Founded in Funchal in 1989, Porta 33 promotes contemporary art in the Autonomous Region of Madeira through exhibitions, publications, workshops, guided visits and colloquia. It was also recently awarded the Medal of Cultural Merit.

A press note said the association has played an active role in valuing regional architecture and its architects through cultural and artistic events, including publications, exhibitions, residencies, interviews, podcasts and talks.
