PCP/Madeira calls for €20 cap on 13kg gas bottles
The party cited an €8.37 gap between prices in Funchal and Ponta Delgada as it renewed its call for a maximum price.
PCP/Madeira called for a maximum price of €20 for a 13-kilogram gas bottle during an initiative on Rua Dr. Fernão Ornelas in Funchal. The party said current gas bottle prices in the Region continue to weigh on family budgets.
Ricardo Lume said there was a difference between prices in Madeira and the Azores. According to data presented by the party, a 13-kilogram bottle costs €31.87 in Funchal and €23.50 in Ponta Delgada, a difference of €8.37.
Lume said it was not acceptable for a Madeiran family to pay €8 more for a 13-kilogram gas bottle.
The PCP presented a bill in the Assembly of the Republic in September to set the maximum public sale price of a 13-kilogram butane LPG bottle at €20, including taxes.
