Five-Car Collision on Via Rápida
In the late afternoon, a major collision involving five vehicles occurred on the Via Rápida, near Boa Nova, heading towards Caniço. The accident resulted in two individuals suffering minor injuries, specifically chest pains. Both were promptly attended to by the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses and transported to the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further evaluation. One of the injured was identified as a 48-year-old man.
Motorcycle and Car Accident in Funchal
Earlier that same day, another accident took place involving a motorcycle and a car on Rua do Til in Funchal. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM, resulting in a 65-year-old man sustaining back injuries. He was also taken to the Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça by the local fire brigade.
Severe Work Accident in Funchal
In addition to the road incidents, a grave work-related accident was reported earlier in February. A young worker in his 30s was critically injured after being struck by multiple bags of cement at a construction site on Rua Vale da Ajuda. The worker lost consciousness and was rushed to the hospital, where he remains in the intensive care unit.
