Miguel Castro proposes plan to strengthen RTP Madeira
Castro's plan calls for professionals, equipment, training and investment planning for RTP Madeira and its regional radio stations.
Miguel Castro, an independent deputy, proposed a plan to strengthen RTP Madeira, Antena 1 Madeira and Antena 3 Madeira. The plan is centred on professionals and the means needed to fulfil the public service mission.
Castro said the teams' work is essential for local information, cultural promotion and links with communities. He defended adequate working conditions, reliable equipment and training opportunities that keep pace with technological change.
The initiative recommends an updated assessment of needs and the definition of investment priorities, with financing and monitoring of execution. It maintains that the State is responsible for financing the public service.
The initiative also recommends that the Regional Government defend the Region's needs while respecting RTP's management autonomy and editorial independence.
