Madeira Mourns the Loss of Beloved Community Members

Madeira Island, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and vibrant culture, is currently in mourning as it bids farewell to several beloved members of its community. The recent passings have brought together families, friends, and neighbors, highlighting the deeply interconnected nature of life on the island.

Manuel da Conceição Andrade, a respected resident of Ponta Delgada, passed away on March 2, 2026. Known for his warmth and community involvement, Manuel will be remembered fondly by his family and friends. His funeral will take place on March 3, 2026, at the parish church of Bom Jesus in Ponta Delgada, followed by interment at the local cemetery.

The community of Câmara de Lobos is mourning the loss of João Izidio Figueira Ferraz, who passed away on March 1, 2026. João's funeral service will be held at the chapel of Nossa Senhora das Angústias cemetery, São Martinho, on March 2, 2026, culminating in a cremation ceremony.

João Alberto Melim, a cherished resident of Porto Santo, passed on March 1, 2026. His funeral is scheduled for March 2, 2026, at the Santa Catarina cemetery chapel, where a service will be conducted before his burial.

Irene Maria Pestana de Andrade, originally from Ribeira Brava, passed away on February 28, 2026. Her funeral service was held on March 1, 2026, at the same chapel where João Ferraz's service will occur, followed by cremation. Her family extends special thanks to the staff of Lar Vela Vista for their care and support.
