Madeira Island pays tribute to four beloved residents, including community figures and cherished family members, marking a time of reflection and remembrance.

The Madeira community is currently in mourning as it remembers four distinguished residents who have recently passed away. These individuals were not only cherished by their families but also held in high regard by their communities.

InocĂŞncia Neves de Lima Ponte

Inocência Neves de Lima Ponte, a native of Seixal, passed away on March 4, 2026. Her funeral will take place on March 6, 2026, beginning at Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça and concluding at the parish church of Santo Antão in Seixal, followed by a burial in the local cemetery.

The family expressed their gratitude towards the medical staff at Lar do Porto Moniz for the compassionate care provided. A memorial service will be held on March 8, 2026, in her honor.

Maria Pestana Teles

Maria Pestana Teles, a resident of Caminho do Pico Ferreiro, Tabua, passed on March 4, 2026. Her funeral services will occur on March 5, 2026, with a procession from Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça to the parish church of Santíssima Trindade, Tabua. A commemorative mass is scheduled for March 8, 2026.

José Luís Rodrigues Fernandes

José Luís Rodrigues Fernandes, a long-time resident of Estrada do Moreno, Ribeira Brava, died on March 4, 2026. His funeral is set for March 5, 2026, with services at the parish church of São Bento, Ribeira Brava. A service in his memory will be held on March 10, 2026.

José Gonçalves Pestana

José Gonçalves Pestana, from Estrada da Adega, Campanário, passed away on March 4, 2026. A funeral procession will commence from Hospital dos Marmeleiros on March 4, 2026, leading to a service at the parish church of São Brás, Campanário. A memorial mass is planned for March 8, 2026.
