Funchal schedules mental health literacy sessions
The Municipality of Funchal will illuminate Paços do Concelho in green and hold two mental health literacy sessions led by psychologists.
The Municipality of Funchal is marking World Mental Health Day on 10 October with a programme dedicated to awareness, prevention and mental health literacy. The main facade of Paços do Concelho will be illuminated in green on 10 and 11 October.
The illumination is intended to mark the date, draw attention to the need to talk about mental health, combat stigma associated with mental illness and promote a more informed and inclusive society.
A mental health literacy session will take place at the Centro Comunitário do Funchal on 12 October from 10:00 to 11:00. Psychologists Carla Faria and Cristina Alves will lead the session, which is intended to create a space for information and reflection on mental health.
The initiative aims to strengthen public knowledge, including the identification of warning signs and situations in which specialised support may be needed. A second session, also led by Faria and Alves, is scheduled for 14 October from 11:00 to 12:00 at the Universidade Sénior do Funchal.
