Funchal marks World Food Day with chícharo soup showcooking

At the Centro Cívico Professor Virgílio Pereira in Santa Luzia, A Biqueira prepared and served sopa de chícharo. The soup was presented as a traditional Madeiran recipe.

The initiative aimed to promote healthier and more sustainable eating habits, local products and gastronomic traditions.

Councillor for Health Helena Leal attended. She said food literacy and awareness of more conscious choices were important. She said longevity should be accompanied by quality of life, health and well-being.
