Frederico Varandas, who has been at the helm of Sporting Clube de Portugal since September 2018, has been re-elected as the president for another term extending until 2030. The elections, held at the Pavilhão João Rocha in Lisbon, concluded with Varandas receiving 89.47% of the votes.
The elections witnessed the participation of 18,268 out of 75,817 eligible club members. Varandas secured 67,106 votes, significantly outpacing his opponent, businessman Bruno Sorreluz, also known as Bruno Sá, who received 919 votes, accounting for 6.28%.
Varandas, a former clinical director of the club, has been praised for his leadership and vision, which have steered the club through various challenges over the years. His re-election reflects strong confidence among the club's members in his strategic direction and management.
The election results were announced by João Palma, the outgoing president of the General Assembly, emphasizing the democratic spirit and active participation within the club's community.
