The AJMC-led event will bring four sessions on the Region's economic and financial reality, followed by networking.

The first FinMadeira Summit will take place in Funchal on 10 October, running from 14:00 to 18:00 at the Centro Cultural e de Investigação do Funchal. The event is promoted by the Associação de Jovens Madeirenses Conectados (AJMC).

According to Diário de Notícias Madeira, the initiative is intended to promote discussion about the Region's economic and financial reality and the challenges to its development. The programme will include four sessions with different speakers and perspectives, with themes and participants to be announced later by the organisers.

The summit is aimed at people linked to economics and finance, as well as young people, students, entrepreneurs and professionals interested in regional development. It will end with a networking moment for participants, guests and speakers.

The FinMadeira Summit has partnerships with the Sociedade de Desenvolvimento da Madeira and Startup Madeira. Tickets cost three euros for students, five euros for individual entry and seven euros for two people; AJMC members can attend free of charge.

Registrations are open through the association's social media. Participation is limited to available places.

Update — 2026-10-10

The organisers have now released the programme details for the first FinMadeira Summit. It will feature nine invited speakers and four discussion areas: the Madeira Free Trade Zone, tourism and economic diversification, entrepreneurship, and housing.

Named speakers include João Rainho, Micaela Vieira, João Silva, Miguel Gouveia, Paulo Vieira, Élvio Camacho, André Barreto, Nuno Teixeira and Sara de Sá Leão. The event also has support from the Regional Directorate for Youth and Funchal City Council, and will take place in the Sala da Investigação of the Centro Cultural e de Investigação do Funchal, at Rua do Matadouro, no. 4.

Update — 2026-10-10

At the opening session, Regional Secretary for Inclusion, Labour and Youth Paula Margarido said young people should be involved in debates on Madeira's economic and social issues. She said their ideas and projects are "an absolute priority" for the Regional Government. Margarido said the Madeira Free Trade Zone should not be understood as a delimited geographical area, but as a regime bringing together tools to promote investment, economic activity and job creation. The organisers said the auditorium was full. Regional Director for Youth André Alves also attended the opening session. Margarido named the PRINT, Social Innovation and Transformation Programme, as a support instrument for youth associations and informal youth groups.
