Emergency Services Spring into Action: A Week of Incidents in Madeira

In a busy week for the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses, the emergency services were called to respond to multiple incidents across Madeira. These incidents have highlighted the vital role of the fire brigade in ensuring public safety on the island.

On March 8th, at 16:50, the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses were dispatched to Penteada, Funchal, where they had to force entry into a residence to assist a man in his seventies who was found in distress. The firefighters entered through a window to reach the man, who was lying prostrate. He was promptly attended to by four firefighters and medical personnel from EMIR before being transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further care.

Earlier on the same day, at 14:01, the fire brigade was also called to Caminho dos Lombos, Monte, to tackle an unauthorized fire. Three firefighters were dispatched with a light vehicle to manage and extinguish the blaze, preventing potential spread to nearby areas.

On March 5th, the emergency services responded to a traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a car in Boa Nova, Funchal. A 37-year-old man sustained injuries, particularly in the pelvic area. He was provided with immediate medical attention and transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further treatment.
