Eight firefighters and two vehicles were dispatched to Rua dos Estados Unidos da América to manage the situation.
In a separate incident, a woman in her 30s was injured after falling from a staircase on Avenida Calouste Gulbenkian. She was quickly attended to by firefighters and is suspected to have sustained a leg fracture. She was transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further treatment.
Meanwhile, an active fire in the Jardim da Serra area has mobilized multiple firefighting units. The Bombeiros Voluntários de Câmara de Lobos, Ribeira Brava, and Ponta do Sol, along with the Bombeiros Voluntários Madeirenses, are all working together to contain the blaze, which is threatening the area below the local health center.
Tragically, a man in his 40s was found dead in the Poço Barral area of São Martinho. Despite the prompt arrival of emergency services, nothing could be done to save him.
