Suspected Apartment Fire in Funchal
On the evening of March 14, 2026, the Funchal Fire Brigade swiftly responded to reports of a possible fire at an apartment in Bairro do Hospital. Upon arrival, it was discovered that a forgotten pan on the stove had caused smoke, which was quickly managed by the 15 firefighters and five vehicles dispatched to the scene.
Motorcycle Accidents in Funchal and Santa Cruz
Earlier that day, a motorcycle accident occurred on Rua da Quinta do Leme in Funchal. A 36-year-old man suffered injuries to his ribs and leg after his motorcycle was hit by a car. He was promptly attended to and transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further medical care.
In a separate incident in Santa Cruz, the local fire brigade responded to another motorcycle accident on Estrada Santo António da Serra. A 43-year-old motorcyclist reported injuries to his legs and arms and was also taken to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça.
