Community Mourns Loss of Beloved Residents Across Madeira

Madeira is united in mourning as it bids farewell to four respected members of its community. Across the island, from Ponta Delgada to Porto Santo, families and friends gather to pay their respects to Manuel da Conceição Andrade, João Izidio Figueira Ferraz, João Alberto Melim, and Irene Maria Pestana de Andrade.

A resident of Rua Manuel Afonso Sanha in Ponta Delgada, Manuel da Conceição Andrade passed away on March 2, 2026. His funeral was held on March 3 at the parish church of Bom Jesus, Ponta Delgada, followed by burial in the local cemetery. The family expressed gratitude for the support they received during this time.

João Izidio Figueira Ferraz of Vereda dos Arrifes, Câmara de Lobos, died on March 1, 2026. The funeral took place on March 2, with a service at the chapel of the cemetery of Nossa Senhora das Angústias, São Martinho, followed by cremation. The family acknowledged the condolences offered by the community.

The Porto Santo community mourns João Alberto Melim, whose funeral was conducted on March 2 at the cemetery of Santa Catarina. A resident of the Estrada do Parque Empresarial, Melim's legacy is cherished by his extensive family and friends who attended the service.

Irene Maria Pestana de Andrade, hailing from Ribeira Brava, passed away on February 28, 2026. Her funeral was held on March 1 at the chapel of the cemetery of Nossa Senhora das Angústias, with her family expressing deep appreciation for the care provided by the staff at Lar Vela Vista.
