A heated indoor 25 m pool with a 500-seat gallery and a gym on the edge of Machico, run by the regional sports directorate.

Six lanes, covered and heated, with changing rooms and a training room - a regional facility rather than a leisure pool, so there is no shallow children's tank and no play equipment. Machico is one of the few regional pools that advertises free swimming alongside booked lane time, but it is arranged rather than walked into: the address to write to is drd@madeira.gov.pt.

Worth knowing: Saturday morning is the only weekend slot and the directorate's own page warns it depends on whatever competition is booked - two swim meets landed here in July 2026 alone. Sunday is shut. The hours themselves come from a page last updated in 2018, so phone before driving.
