On 7 May 2027, during Funchal's Flower Festival, the central walkway of Avenida Arriaga hosts the Wall of Solidarity. People supported by the island's social solidarity institutions come together to build a wall of flowers in a symbolic ceremony, with folk music from the SĂŁo Martinho Community Centre's folklore group. It is brief and community-made rather than staged for spectators, and it sits right in the city centre, so it fits easily into a day spent at the festival's bigger parades and markets.
