A series of incidents, including traffic accidents and emergencies, have recently occurred across Madeira, prompting swift responses from local emergency services.

In recent days, Madeira has witnessed a series of incidents requiring the immediate attention of local emergency services. These events have ranged from traffic accidents involving cars and motorcycles to a suspected fire and even a violent altercation.

Traffic Incidents and Injuries

On March 16, a man in his 70s was injured in a collision between two cars on Rua do Engenho Velho. Complaining of chest pains, he was promptly attended to by the Funchal fire brigade and transported to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital.

Another traffic incident occurred on March 14, when a 36-year-old motorcyclist was hit by a car on Rua da Quinta do Leme. The impact left him with injuries to his ribs and leg. He too was taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital for treatment.

In Santa Cruz, on March 14, another motorcyclist, aged 43, was involved in a collision with a car. He suffered injuries to his legs and arms and was also hospitalized.

Other Emergencies

A suspected fire incident in an apartment at Bairro do Hospital was swiftly handled by the Funchal fire brigade. The situation, caused by a forgotten cooking pot, was resolved without any injuries.

In a separate event, a violent brawl in the early hours of March 14 on Rua da Carreira resulted in three men sustaining injuries. The Funchal and Madeirense fire brigades provided assistance, and the local police are investigating the matter.

Tragic Discovery

Adding to the somber events, a man aged between 50 and 60 was found deceased in a field in São Roque do Faial on March 15. The cause of death is suspected to be a fall, and an investigation is ongoing.

These incidents highlight the importance of emergency services and the challenges they face in ensuring the safety and well-being of Madeira's residents and visitors.
