The Funchal Fire Department was dispatched to deal with two fallen trees on the Estrada da Eira do Serrado, while the Machico Municipal Firefighters responded to similar incidents at Caminho do Lameirão and near the Capela dos Milagres. These fallen trees have caused traffic disruptions, but no injuries have been reported.
Roof Blown Onto Power Lines
In the Palheiro Ferreiro area, a zinc roof was lifted by strong winds and landed on electrical cables near a house. The incident required immediate attention from the Madeira Volunteer Firefighters, although no injuries were reported.
Traffic Accidents Add to Chaos
Adding to the chaos, a traffic accident involving a motorcycle and a car occurred in the Caniço area, closing the expressway temporarily. The motorcyclist, a 35-year-old man, sustained minor injuries. Additionally, a separate motorcycle accident on Rua Bela Santiago involved two young men, aged 17 and 20, who were taken to Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital with injuries.
