The Socialist Party (PS) has criticized the Government of the Democratic Alliance (AD) for failing to meet its promises and negatively impacting the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

The Socialist Party (PS) in Madeira has openly criticized the current government led by the Democratic Alliance (AD), accusing them of failing to fulfill their promises to the Portuguese people and neglecting the needs of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. This was highlighted in a recent session held in Porto Moniz, where party members discussed the impacts of two years under AD's administration.

Sérgio Ávila, a prominent member of the PS and former Vice-President of the Regional Government of the Azores, pointed out several areas where the government has underperformed. Key issues include the failure to provide adequate healthcare services, with many citizens still lacking access to family doctors and a significant reduction in medical consultations over the past year.

Housing has also been a major concern, with Portugal experiencing a 27% increase in housing costs, making it the second highest in the European Union. This escalation has severely impacted residents' ability to afford housing, a fundamental right that the PS argues the government has failed to protect.

Rising living costs, including food and fuel prices, have further strained the population. The PS criticized the government's inability to address these economic challenges, noting that recent reports from the National Statistics Institute (INE) indicate economic stagnation.

The PS also condemned proposed changes to labor laws, which they believe would undermine the rights of families, women, and vulnerable groups. These proposed reforms have sparked significant concern among residents, who fear a rollback of hard-won labor rights.

The government has clearly failed in its governance objectives, leaving Madeira and its residents to bear the brunt of these shortcomings.
