Traffic Accidents Across the Island

On March 16, a traffic accident involving two cars occurred on Rua do Engenho Velho in Funchal. A man in his 70s was injured and complained of chest pains, prompting a swift response from the Funchal Fire Brigade. He was transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further treatment.

In another incident, a motorcyclist was injured on March 14 after his bike collided with a car on Rua da Quinta do Leme. The 36-year-old man suffered injuries to his rib cage and leg and was also taken to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça. Similarly, in Santa Cruz, a 43-year-old motorcyclist was hurt in a collision on Estrada Santo António da Serra, leading to complaints of pain in his legs and arms.

Altercation in Funchal

In the early hours of March 14, an altercation on Rua da Carreira resulted in injuries to three men. The Funchal Fire Brigade attended to two of the injured, aged in their 50s and 60s, while the third, in his 30s, was assisted by the Volunteer Firefighters of Madeira. The incident, which involved physical assaults, is under investigation by the PSP (Public Security Police).

Other Emergencies

On the evening of March 15, the Volunteer Firefighters of Santana were called to São Roque do Faial, where they found a man in his 50s or 60s deceased in an agricultural field. The cause of death is suspected to be an accidental fall, and the body was retrieved using rescue equipment.

Additionally, a minor incident occurred in the Bairro do Hospital involving a suspected apartment fire, which was quickly resolved as it was caused by an unattended pan left on the stove.
