The Madeira government expresses its deep sorrow over the passing of Marília Silva, a pivotal figure in the Madeiran community in Venezuela, known for her cultural contributions and leadership.

The Government of Madeira has announced the passing of Marília Silva, a revered figure within the Madeiran community in Venezuela. Silva, who was originally from Santa Maria Maior in Funchal, dedicated 46 years of her life to the Centro Social Madeirense in Valência, as well as its Folklore Group, where she served as a leader in recent years.

Marília Silva was more than just a member; she was a cornerstone in preserving and promoting Madeiran cultural identity abroad. Her efforts not only kept the traditions alive among the diaspora but also reinforced the cultural ties between Venezuela and Madeira. Silva's parents were among the founders of the Centro Social Madeirense, which highlights her lifelong commitment to community service.

The Regional Government, through the Direcção Regional das Comunidades e Cooperação Externa (DRCCE), expressed profound condolences to Silva's family, acknowledging her significant contributions and leadership. Her efforts have left a lasting impact on the Madeiran community and beyond, embodying the spirit and culture of Madeira in Venezuela.

Silva's legacy is a testament to the enduring strength and influence of Madeiran culture in Venezuela, where she was considered a beacon for cultural preservation and community cohesion. Her passing marks a great loss for both local and international communities.
