The Regional Secretariat of Equipment and Infrastructure extends the deadline for proposals for the third phase of Madeira's new hospital by 44 days, now due on April 29th, to improve proposal quality and competitiveness.

The Regional Secretariat of Equipment and Infrastructure (SREI) has announced an extension of the deadline for submitting proposals for the third phase of the Hospital Central e Universitário da Madeira. This phase, which involves general infrastructures, finishes, and technical installations, has been extended by 44 days. The new deadline is now set for April 29th, replacing the previously scheduled date of March 16th.

The decision to extend the deadline comes in response to requests from participating consortiums, who cited the technical complexity of the project, the necessity for specialized consultations, some of which are international, and the extensive documentation required. These consortiums, selected through a limited competition by prior qualification in February, include prominent construction companies such as Tecnovia Madeira and MOTA-ENGIL.

The SREI believes that allowing additional time will enhance the quality and competitiveness of the proposals. This measure is supported by the Public Procurement Code, which allows for deadline extensions under such circumstances. The extension aims to ensure that the proposals reflect the project's high standards, which is crucial given the hospital's significance to the region.

Madeira's new hospital project is a major infrastructure initiative, aimed at improving healthcare services on the island. The hospital is expected to serve both the local population and the island's many tourists, providing state-of-the-art medical facilities. This extension is a crucial step in ensuring the project's success and its alignment with the island's healthcare goals.
