JPP Calls for Government Support to Boost Anona Production in Madeira
Madeira GuideThe JPP has urged the Madeira government to support the growth of the iconic anona fruit production, emphasizing its potential to enhance local farmers' income.
The Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) political party is advocating for increased governmental support to enhance the production of anona, a fruit iconic to Madeira. This call was made during the Regional Anona Exhibition held in Faial, where JPP representatives emphasized the fruit's potential to boost farmers' income.
Miguel Ganança, a JPP deputy, highlighted anona's significance not only as a cultural symbol but also as an economic asset. "The fruit has a market potential that can significantly increase producers' revenue," he stated, urging the government to provide necessary conditions and support for its cultivation.
The JPP has been actively involved in promoting agricultural development in Madeira. The party believes that with the right governmental policies, the production of anona, alongside other key regional products like sugar cane, bananas, and grapes, can be significantly increased.
Anona, also known as cherimoya, is cherished for its sweet flavor and creamy texture. It holds a special place in Madeira's agricultural landscape and is celebrated in various local festivals.
The government's role is pivotal in facilitating the growth of this sector by providing financial support, improving infrastructure, and ensuring market access for producers. Such measures are expected to attract more farmers into anona production, thereby enhancing the overall agricultural output of the region.
