Suspected Apartment Fire

In the early evening, the Funchal Fire Brigade was dispatched to a reported fire in an apartment located in the Bairro do Hospital. Upon arrival, it was determined that the incident was caused by a forgotten pot on the stove. Thanks to the prompt action of 15 firefighters and five vehicles, the situation was quickly controlled without any injuries or significant damage.

Traffic Accidents Involving Motorcyclists

Two separate traffic accidents involving motorcycles occurred on the same day. The first incident took place on Rua da Quinta do Leme, where a 36-year-old motorcyclist sustained injuries to his ribs and leg after a collision with a car. The second accident happened in Santa Cruz on the Estrada Santo Ant贸nio da Serra, resulting in a 43-year-old motorcyclist suffering injuries to his arms and legs. In both cases, the injured were promptly transported to Dr. N茅lio Mendon莽a Hospital for treatment.

Public Disturbance in Funchal

In the early hours of the morning, a violent altercation broke out on Rua da Carreira, resulting in three men sustaining injuries. The Funchal Fire Brigade and the Volunteer Firefighters of Madeira responded to the scene. The injured, who ranged in age from their 30s to 60s, were treated for head, facial, and suspected nasal fractures. The local police (PSP) are investigating the incident.

Unexplained Death in Public

Earlier in the year, on January 29, 2026, a man in his 40s was found dead in the vicinity of Madeira Tecnop贸lo. Despite initial concerns, there was no evidence of sudden illness or foul play. Emergency services, including the EMIR and PSP, were present to handle the situation.

These incidents underscore the constant vigilance required by emergency services in Madeira, ensuring both residents and tourists can feel secure in this beautiful island destination.
