Earlier that evening, a traffic accident occurred on the Via Rápida near Viveiros, in the direction of Câmara de Lobos-Funchal. The incident involved two cars, and a 55-year-old man sustained injuries to his neck and spine. The Madeirense Volunteer Firefighters provided immediate care and transported him to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further treatment.
Hiking Accident on Levada do Norte
On March 12, 2026, a 75-year-old woman fell while hiking on the Levada do Norte in the Garachico area. She suffered leg pain and a cut on her forehead.
