Cardiac Arrest Incidents

On March 18, 2026, emergency teams were dispatched to Santo António where a man in his 70s suffered a cardiac arrest. Thanks to the prompt intervention by EMIR and the Funchal Firefighters, the man was successfully resuscitated and transported to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça for further treatment.

Just days earlier, on March 15, a similar incident occurred in Jardim da Serra where a man in his 60s unfortunately succumbed to a cardiac arrest despite efforts from EMIR and the Câmara de Lobos Volunteer Firefighters.

Traffic Incidents

Traffic safety was another concern this week. On March 18, a foreign woman in her 40s was struck by a vehicle on Estrada Monumental. She suffered leg injuries and was taken to Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça. The incident is a reminder of the ongoing need for pedestrian safety measures.
