The PSD has voiced strong criticism of Machico's current study grant regulations, arguing they fail to provide adequate support for local students and their families.

The Social Democratic Party (PSD) has raised significant concerns over the proposed amendments to the study grant regulations in Machico, Madeira. The party's councilors argue that the current framework does not offer a fair or sufficient support system for students and their families in the region.

The primary issue highlighted by the PSD is the failure of the regulations to guarantee grant payments throughout the entire year. This oversight, they argue, neglects the continuous financial burdens faced by families even during school breaks. The PSD insists that social support must be consistent and reliable to ensure stability for beneficiaries.

Furthermore, the PSD suggests setting a minimum grant amount of 150 euros per month for all beneficiaries. They emphasize the need for an equitable distribution of resources that takes into account the socio-economic disparities among families. "Supporting the most disadvantaged students with greater financial aid is essential," stated the PSD councilors.

The councilors criticize the current proposal for not adequately addressing the needs of Machico's youth, expressing regret that the municipality has not adopted more equitable and supportive measures.

Treating everyone with equal rights does not mean ignoring existing social inequalities. Those who need more support should receive it.
