Águas e Resíduos da Madeira (ARM) enhances its recycling program by accepting wooden packaging at three locations, promoting sustainability and circular economy in the region.

In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, Águas e Resíduos da Madeira (ARM) has announced the enhancement of its recycling initiative by accepting wooden packaging waste at three of its facilities in Madeira. This initiative is part of ARM's ongoing commitment to sustainable waste management and the promotion of the circular economy within the Autonomous Region of Madeira.

Residents and businesses can now deliver wooden packaging at three key locations: the Eastern Transfer Station and Sorting Station in Porto Novo, Santa Cruz; the Western Transfer Station in Meia Légua, Ribeira Brava; and the Solid Waste Processing Center in Porto Santo. These locations will accept non-painted and contaminant-free wooden pallets, as well as wooden packaging used for fruit storage.

All collected materials will be processed for recycling, thereby reducing landfill waste and increasing material recovery, which aligns with both regional and national environmental goals. This free and simple solution encourages the adoption of more sustainable waste management practices among citizens and businesses alike.

ARM's initiative not only facilitates the delivery and proper recycling of wooden packaging but also underscores the importance of collective environmental responsibility. By fostering a cleaner and more efficient region, ARM is contributing to a more sustainable future for Madeira, emphasizing that every small action counts towards preserving natural resources.
