Madeira's tourism sector experienced a 5.1% growth in overnight stays for November 2025, with significant contributions from the national market. This trend highlights Madeira's resilience and appeal as a travel destination.

In November 2025, the Autonomous Region of Madeira recorded a notable 5.1% increase in overnight stays in tourist accommodations compared to the previous year, according to the data released by the Regional Directorate of Statistics of Madeira (DREM). This growth reflects the island's ongoing appeal as a travel destination.

The month saw the arrival of approximately 174,900 guests, generating a total of 928,700 overnight stays. The hotel sector bore the brunt of this growth, accounting for 69.7% of the total overnight stays.

The most significant contributor to this growth was the national market, which surged by 36.5% over the first eleven months of the year. This increase underscores the growing popularity of Madeira among Portuguese tourists, who are increasingly seeking local destinations.

Tourism revenue in Madeira has also seen a substantial rise, outpacing the national average. This economic upswing is crucial for the island, heavily reliant on tourism as a primary economic driver.

Madeira, an archipelago known for its stunning landscapes, rich culture, and mild climate, continues to attract tourists worldwide. The island's ability to maintain and grow its tourism numbers during these times is a testament to its resilience and strategic marketing efforts.

For residents and tourists alike, this growth in tourism is expected to bring more economic opportunities, enhance local businesses, and improve infrastructure, further bolstering Madeira's status as a premier tourist destination.
