The Port of Funchal welcomes three cruise ships bringing over 6,000 tourists to Madeira, enhancing the island's appeal as a premier Atlantic destination.

On March 10, 2026, the Port of Funchal on Madeira Island is bustling with activity as it hosts three major cruise ships: Mein Schiff Relax, AIDAluna, and Europa. These vessels are collectively bringing 6,117 passengers and 2,067 crew members, significantly boosting local tourism.

The AIDAluna was the first to dock at 8:45 AM, arriving from Santa Cruz de La Palma as part of a 12-day Cruise Atlantic Islands (CAI) itinerary. This ship, carrying 2,107 passengers and 631 crew, will be staying overnight at Cais 6 before departing for Fuerteventura.

Later, the Europa arrived at 3:00 PM, bringing 324 passengers and 281 crew. It, too, is on a CAI itinerary, having started in Las Palmas and stopping at multiple Canary Islands before reaching Madeira. Europa is scheduled for a 33-hour stay.

The Mein Schiff Relax, the largest of the three, arrived late Monday night with 4,010 passengers and 1,436 crew. This ship also follows the CAI route and will be departing for La Palma on the afternoon of March 11.

This influx of cruise ship visitors underscores Madeira's strategic positioning within the Atlantic, offering rich cultural experiences and stunning natural landscapes. The Port of Funchal, a key hub for maritime tourism, continues to thrive with such regular arrivals, contributing to the local economy.
