The International Congress on Art Education ends today in Funchal, focusing on the role of art in educational autonomy. Experts from around the world have gathered to discuss contemporary challenges and opportunities.

The International Congress of Art Education (CIEA 2026), hosted in Funchal since last Thursday, wraps up today with a roundtable discussion on 'Art Education in the Autonomy Era.' The event, organized by the Conservatory – Escola das Artes da Madeira – Eng.º Luiz Peter Clode, has brought together researchers, educators, artists, and professionals from various countries to explore the significance of art in modern educational practices.

The congress aims to address the evolving role of art education within the context of Madeira's autonomy, providing a platform for dialogue among international and local experts. The final session is set to take place from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM in the SalĂŁo Nobre of the Conservatory, following the arrival of guests at 10:00 AM.

Madeira, an autonomous region known for its cultural richness and vibrant arts scene, serves as an ideal backdrop for this important dialogue. The discussions emphasize the integration of art in education as a means to foster creativity, critical thinking, and cultural appreciation among students.

The congress not only highlights the challenges faced by art educators in an autonomous educational system but also celebrates the successes and innovations achieved through collaborative efforts. Participants have had the opportunity to share best practices, network, and develop strategies to enhance art education globally.

This event underscores the commitment of Madeira's educational institutions to advancing art education, ensuring it remains a vital component of the curriculum, and reflects the unique cultural identity of the region.
