The arrival of two major cruise ships, MSC Musica and Marella Explorer 2, contributed to this influx, underscoring the island's prominence in the Cruise Atlantic Islands itinerary.
MSC Musica arrived from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria at 8:00 AM, bringing with it 2,669 passengers and 938 crew members. The ship was conducting a partial turnaround, disembarking 366 passengers and embarking 351 new ones, before departing for Santa Cruz de Tenerife at 5:00 PM. This cruise is part of a week-long journey between the Canary Islands and Madeira, managed by JFM Shipping.
Meanwhile, Marella Explorer 2, which had arrived the previous day from Lanzarote, was hosting 1,752 passengers and 754 crew members. It departed at 6:00 PM for Santa Cruz de La Palma. Both ships are engaged in the popular Atlantic Islands cruise circuit, which sees frequent stops at Madeira due to its strategic location and appealing attractions.
Adding to the maritime activity, the Santa Maria Manuela, a traditional Portuguese sailing ship, was also navigating between Funchal and Porto Santo, offering visitors a unique maritime experience. On the following day, the Costa Fortuna was scheduled to dock at 7:00 AM, making a brief 10-hour stopover, further enhancing the port's busy schedule.
