Madeira GuideThe ARM has announced significant salary and meal subsidy updates for its workers, impacting a large portion of its workforce.
The Águas e Resíduos da Madeira (ARM), a public utility company in Madeira, has successfully concluded the fourth revision of its Company Agreement (Acordo de Empresa). This development is the result of negotiations with the Sindicato dos Trabalhadores da Administração Pública (SINTAP) and the Sindicato dos Trabalhadores da Função Pública da Região Autónoma da Madeira (STFP-RAM).
This agreement brings about notable changes in the remuneration structure for the company's employees, with salary increases taking effect retroactively from January 1, 2026. The revisions aim to enhance the financial well-being of the workforce, ensuring a minimum difference of 30 euros between remuneration levels 1 and 11, which translates to an average salary increase of 65.32 euros, representing a 6.06% increase. This adjustment benefits 705 employees, which constitutes approximately 77% of ARM's staff.
For employees in levels 12 to 33, the salary increase is set at an average of 3.08%, equating to an increase of 56.58 euros, while those in levels 34 to 39 will experience a 2.15% increase. Alongside the salary adjustments, the meal subsidy will also see a gradual increment, starting at 7.50 euros in 2026 and rising to 9 euros by 2029.
Additionally, the agreement introduces changes in the calculation of the failure allowance, shifting from a monthly to a daily basis, with the current allowance of 88.91 euros per month being adjusted to 4.40 euros per day worked. ARM emphasizes that these changes signify a commitment to improving work conditions and professional valuation while maintaining financial sustainability.
The company is also in the final stages of negotiations with the Sindicato dos Trabalhadores das Indústrias Transformadoras, Energia e Actividades do Ambiente, aiming to conclude the process soon. These updates are a critical step in enhancing the quality of employment and job satisfaction for ARM’s workforce.
