In celebration of the International Day of Intangible Cultural Heritage on October 17, the Regional Secretariat for Tourism, Environment and Culture, in collaboration with the Escola Secundária de Francisco Franco, presents the exhibition "Património Imaterial: Saberes que inspiram." The opening will take place on September 30 at 4:00 PM at the Núcleo Histórico e Museológico de Santo Amaro – Torre do Capitão, where the exhibition will be on display until October 17, 2026. This initiative showcases the work of students from the 12th-grade Visual Arts course during the 2025/2026 school year. The exhibition offers a youthful perspective on the intangible cultural heritage of the Madeira archipelago, highlighting its ability to generate knowledge, creativity, and new forms of expression. Rather than merely reproducing cultural manifestations, the works reveal different ways to interpret and establish a dialogue between cultural heritage and the present.
The Núcleo Histórico e Museológico de Santo Amaro is accessible by public transport from central Funchal. Check local bus schedules for routes and times.
