Two consultancy proposals have been submitted for the new Madeira Central and University Hospital, promising to enhance its management and operational capabilities.

In a recent development crucial to the healthcare landscape of Madeira, two proposals have been submitted for the consultancy of the new Madeira Central and University Hospital (HCUM). This initiative, spearheaded by the Regional Secretariat for Equipment and Infrastructures, aims to secure expert advice on hospital management.

The public tender, launched in March, attracted bids from CONSULGAL – Consultores de Engenharia e Gestão, S.A. and a consortium comprising Remeditec – Importação e Comercialização de Equipamentos de Saúde, S.A. and Quadrante – Engenharia e Consultoria, S.A. With a base value of €2,916,235 plus VAT, the proposals will now undergo evaluation.

The evaluation process will be conducted by a jury tasked with assessing and ranking the proposals. The jury holds the authority to exclude any proposal that fails to meet legal requirements or the specifications outlined in the tender documents.

This consultancy service is expected to provide specialized support in managing the technical, functional, and organizational complexities of the HCUM. The contract will commence following approval from the Court of Auditors and is expected to last 42 months, with potential extensions.

The establishment of the HCUM is a strategic investment for Madeira's Regional Health Service, underscoring the hospital's significance in enhancing healthcare delivery across the region. This project promises to bolster the operational efficiency of the hospital, ensuring it meets the healthcare needs of both residents and visitors.

Madeira, known for its vibrant culture and as a popular tourist destination, will benefit greatly from such a significant advancement in its healthcare infrastructure. The new hospital is anticipated to not only improve local healthcare services but also support the island's capacity to handle medical needs during peak tourist seasons.
